Surviving a Stroke. Rebuilding a Life.
Helping Others Do the Same.

I’m not someone who naturally shares everything I’m feeling, but writing gave me a safe, judgment-free space to be real with myself about fear, frustration, hope, and resilience.

About
Craig-Ames

I never expected my life to be divided into a before and an after, but becoming a stroke survivor reshaped everything, my health, my perspective, and my sense of identity. Like many people, I was busy living, working, and planning for the future, never imagining how suddenly things could change. In the days and weeks that followed my stroke, recovery felt overwhelming and uncertain, not just physically but cognitively and emotionally as well. Progress wasn’t linear, and some days felt heavier than others. One of the hardest parts was figuring out where to begin when everything felt scattered, which is why I started writing things down.

Why You Share Your Story

This site exists to support stroke survivors, their caregivers, families, and anyone navigating life after a stroke. By sharing my journey, I aim to guide others through recovery, provide hope, and show that rebuilding life after such a life-changing event is possible.

Survivor Warrior Journal

My journal arrived. I hope I never have to use it personally for a stroke, but I like the layout of the journal. You can use this journal for any struggle that you want to overcome. The mood reflections help you identify your emotions. The writing prompt helps you when you do not know where to start. This is a great journal. I’m glad someone wrote a roadmap to help others through their journey.

Survivor Warrior Mantra

Listen to your body. Honor your strength. Take action

Before anything else, I ask you to pause for a moment. Being a Survivor Warrior doesn’t mean pushing through everything in silence; it means having the strength to listen when your body speaks. Life moves fast, and it’s easy to ignore the quiet signals we tell ourselves aren’t important: the exhaustion, the stress, the feeling that something isn’t quite right. I did that too. Sometimes those signals don’t arrive loudly; they whisper, asking us to slow down, pay attention, and take our health seriously. This space exists to remind you that awareness is strength, prevention is power, and taking care of yourself is not weakness. Whether you’re here for your own journey or walking beside someone you love, my hope is that this message encourages you to trust your instincts, get checked, ask questions, and choose action before “later” becomes “too late.” You are stronger than you think and listening to your body is one of the bravest things you can do.

If you’re here, it means you’re navigating something that isn’t easy. Recovery doesn’t follow a straight line, and there’s no single right way to move forward. Take things at your own pace, your stronger than this moment, even on the days it doesn’t feel that way. Healing is happening, even when it’s hard to see give yourself grace, and know that you’re not alone in this. I’m glad you’re here.)   Craig
